Our stay at The Royal Playa del Carmen was very nice.  The service was some of the best service we have ever had at a resort.  The Royal had servers that came up to us at the pool and sprayed us with cooling gel while you are lazing around.  Then they would come and surprise you with a cold wrap for your neck.  Servers with frozen grapes brought to you poolside.  The poolside service was really fast and wonderful.  Food choices were amazing.  Top shelf liquor served at all of the bars.  The beach was the best beach I have seen in PDC.  No rocks and you could actually walk straight out into the water.  Most of the beaches I have been to there, have been rocky and not for swimming in.  This was well maintained and they have wait staff that serves you on the beach also.  One of the best things about the property was the closeness to the City.  You are in the City.  A two block walk to 5th avenue shopping.  For the ones who like to venture out in the evening--you can walk to the Blue Parrot, Senor Frogs and many other party places.  I would go back in a minute!
