With each and every trip that we book, our goal is to provide our customers with the best possible experience. Hear first hand from them on their experiences booking their vacation with TripGuy.

We had never gone to an all inclusive resort, but wanted to be totally worry free for our entire trip and stay. Our travel agent, Crissy Caillouet from TripGuy Travel had us covered from our non-stop flight from BWI to Jamaica, to the private transportation from the airport in Jamaica to our resort, to our totally private ocean front room! She also gave the hotel staff a heads up that we were celebrating our 25th Anniversary. We were greeted on two of the nights with a rose petal bath, champagne and special dessert.
I can't say enough about the staff. We had our own butler that attended to our every need and want, but the rest of the staff was just as attentive. They all remembered your name, your favorite drink and/or mentioned something to make the interaction personal. There were so many "Star Friends" but they were never intrusive.
Our room was very nice, especially the bathroom! We also really enjoyed the comfortable swing on our deck overlooking the ocean. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room super clean. They came frequently to change bedding, put in clean towels and do overall cleaning.
We ate at all but one of the restaurants and enjoyed great service and good meals. The buffets always had plenty to choose from and never let us go hungry.
The beaches were beautiful and the water warm and very calm. There wasn't much to see snorkeling close by and you had to pay extra for the boat to take you out to a good spot. They had some water sports, but you were only able to do them an hour per day before they charged you....that was a little unexpected. Luckily we were there mostly to relax, so it worked for us.
They have plenty of chairs by the pools and on the beach in the sun and under umbrellas. We really never had a problem getting a spot. We had great service while on the beach too!
In the spa my husband and I had a couples massage....I thought it was a good massage and my husband said it was the best he's ever had. I also had a pedicure at the salon which was really good. Overall I was a little disappointed with the atmosphere of the spa and salon areas and this was the only place we encountered not so friendly staff. This was just a small part of our vacation and everything else more than made up for it!
Our time at The Grand was amazing and relaxing and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to feel pampered!

Oh my goodness...where do I even begin?!?  The trip to El Dorado Maroma was that of a lifetime.  We were lucky enough to get to fly first class to the resort (HUGE DIFFERENCE in service, of course).

The arrival to the resort was very welcoming (champagne when we sat down to check in).  We were told about our upgrade (THANK YOU!!!!) and shown our room (GORGEOUS!!!).  My favorite part about the room (besides the size...it was huge) was the outdoor private shower.  Truly the best way to start and end each day.  :)
The most amazing aspect about his resort is the service.  I talked to most of the couples that were staying there (it is very small and was only at about half capacity) and they agreed that service was top notch.  Your name, room number, preferences, food allergies, drink of choice....you name it, they knew it after the first day.  WOW!  And the food was definitely not what we are used to when it comes to all-inclusive.  I would have paid to eat every meal we experienced...seriously delicious.
I know that their are people who can come up with critiques about this special place (I have read  a couple of reviews on trip adviser), but I really don't understand what kind of world they must live to have such crazy expectations.  I would give this place 5 stars any day of week!
Thank you again for making this a trip of lifetime...it made all of the difference!

Summer

PS   Thanks again...you are a rock star in my book!

Our family did a last-minute trip to the Riu Palace Tropical Bay Dec 24th-28th.  We have been to Negril a number of times but this is the first time with our kids (9 and 11).  This trip was planned less than 2 weeks before going.  Fayette at Tripguy.com again took care of all the details even down to getting us a great deal on a private transfer from MBJ.  Simply the best to deal with when planning a vacation.

Room:  We were able to get a breach front room that had an open look at the ocean.  A few other guests commented that trees were blocking their view but we lucked out.  Some of the reviews commented on the distance from their room to the dining areas.  We were in the furthest building away and the walk was less than 5 minutes.  No problem, man!  Maid service was very good.  We put out our "green" door-hanger when we left for breakfast or when we were at the beach.  Room was always cleaned by early afternoon.  Twice we stopped back when the room was being cleaned to grab things and were asked if we wanted to maid to come back later to finish.

Food:  The food was average compared to other all-inclusives that we have stayed at.  The selection at the buffet was decent and the food was always hot.  There was a high level of occupancy due to the holidays so the kitchens were busy.  The specialty restaurants were all nice with the Steakhouse being our favorite because it was in the open air.  The service isn't very fast at the specialty restaurants but we were never in a hurry to do anything.  We were on vacation.  Regarding reserving spots for dinner at the specialty restaurants:  You can make reservations two days in advance and this is done at a table in the main lobby.  Getting there when they open at 8:00 AM allowed us to eat at any restaurant we wanted.  Not the best system but easy to do and takes only a few minutes.

Beach/Pools:  The beach is the best part of the resort!  The water was warm and crystal clear.  It should be noted that the deepest water inside the buoys is probably 3 1/2 feet tops.  Great for kids to play in.  Our kids used their snorkel gear and had a blast but saw very few fish.  There was a huge Starfish that they found.

Special notes:  "Jamaican Santa" made a few stops during the holidays....never had a problem with mosquitoes as mentioned in other posts...RIU Palace guests and take the 10-15 minute walk to RIU Negril and use their facilities as well....check-in took less than 5 minutes

 Thanks as always - Tony

hi fayette,

The Ritz Carlton Montego Bay Jamaica was wonderful!  from the moment we arrived it was an excellent experience -- in fact there is a separate ritz carlton room right at the airport as i saw in trip advisor -

there we met with a representative and checked into the hotel right from there and they escorted us to the booth with are shuttle  transfers - there was a lovely setting of multiple sofas

and cold drinks and refreshments while we waited our turn -

arriving at the hotel was quick and painless - very, very polite and kind individual representative upon arrival to hotel - every employee we met was happy, always smiling, willing to please

giving us our room keys as we entered the lobby straight off the shuttle and were given our wrist bands greeted with champagne cocktails - and off to our rooms in minutes

i thought the rooms were wonderful - our suite was big with separate living area just as i hoped - and the girls were connected right next to us -- my son down the hall -

our rooms and girls room had garden view, but you could see the entire pool area and the ocean and beach - that was one of the best surprises of all --- huge balcony - so our views were

gorgeous!  had no idea we would be able to see the ocean from our room - the rooms were very clean, beds were wonderfully comfortable and great pillows ( my one daughter wanted to know

if she could bring one home)  it was the standard ritz bathrooms - marble and huge -- i took a ton of pics but they are on my iphone and i don't know how to send them together, but if you were

willing to see them, i could send individually  -- (unless my kids help me) the air conditioning worked perfectly -- the rooms were very clean - the entire hotel was spotless i too -

my son had the true garden view room - same as the girls just no ocean view but it was a beautiful room as well - basically no complaints at all about the rooms or interior or exterior of the hotel-

the only complaints if you could even call it that - were the food and inclusive plan -- there were 3 restaurants - and the food was good, not exceptional by any means, but it was all pretty much ala carte -

the first day or two - as the holiday travelers arrived they started having more buffet theme nights -  there was "pool party night" with reggae music and traditional jamaican foods -  "italian night" was really good -- ala carte but then buffet for salads and pastas, desserts, etc....

one night there was a wine tasting and we did have to pay $30 extra for the wine, but the dinner was prepared by the chef himself at the golf course White Witch (a 10 minute shuttle ride to the famous golf course)

and the chef described the meal and each wine --- it was fabulous, but poorly attended - we were 5 of  only 20 people that signed up( tables were set for 60 people or more) so it was basically a private wine tasting and beautifully prepared 5 course

seafood dinner and dessert - it was the night before xmas eve and i think alot of people were just arriving and maybe didn't know about it - plus it was off campus so others maybe wanted to just walk to their respective reservations instead of shuttle -

another complaint was that even though we were inclusive we still felt the need to tip once our drinks, or dinners or snacks arrived poolside or beach or restaurant - it wasn't a problem and we didn't mind at all, just we didn't know how much to keep tipping since

everyone was SO NICE and eager to please - if you weren't eating a meal there was basically not much to snack on come the late afternoons or evenings - that was the big difference from any inclusive i have ever been too -- and i understand the ritz is optional -

didn't see too many wristbands either -- its not like you could just walk up to a lunch buffet at 4pm and find an ice cream cone, or chips and dip, or fruit to nibble on --- the gift shop had very few snacks and a bag of M&Ms and other snacks was $2.50 or more -

so that was the only negative (although, it's probably better the buffets didn't offer that anyway or we would have totally gone overboard!!!)

all we did was lay at the pool, or on the beach which was very small, very private, and very peaceful -- it was rocky but i loved it that way - they had catamarans and some sailing but the waters were too rough during our stay - but it didn't matter either -

quite music played throughout the day -- once the weekend came the reggae and live band came out, but even that was peaceful -

it feels like a classy place - we didn't talk to anyone and mostly the families were there with children like ours, and extended families, and young couples with small kids -- one small pool, nothing to mention about, maybe a bit dated, but it was totally fine

for us - nights were very quiet - it was dinner and then walk a bit then up to our rooms for time together in our suite - usually watching a movie and hanging around and talking because we never see the kids to catch up - so perfect for us -- none of my kids

seemed to mind that there was no nightlife or entertainment - we were always exhausted and in bed by 10:30pm for a wonderful night of sleep --- we are so boring!!

sorry this is so long but hope it gives you a good idea for other clients if they like this sort of vacation -- i am dying to try HALF MOON which is right next door -- it turns out lots of my daughters friends from college were staying there - we didn't see them but

heard the hotel is amazing - read about it - would love to go back to jamaica!!!

thank you,

sally

Hey Sherri!

How was your Christmas? Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you, but we had a FABULOUS time in Mexico. It was probably the best vacation I have ever taken! Everything was absolutely PERFECT! I could not have wished for a better trip!

Lomas was there waiting for us as soon as we got out of the airport and had a sign with my name so they were incredibly easy to find! And we loved that we were welcomed to Mexico with Coronas in the van! Everyone we dealt with from Lomas was friendly and helpful. We even forgot to meet them the second day to schedule our return trip to the airport, They called our room one day and it was no problem to schedule it then.

The Riu Palace Riviera Maya was beautiful! We did have to wait to check-in, but it gave us time to explore a little! And we did end up getting a king bed because a double was not available the first night. They offered to move us to a double the next night, but they had given us a king room on the first floor looking right out near the pool! We loved it so we didn't want to move! The food was incredible! We made reservations and went to 2 of the restaurants (we loved the Japanese place!), but after we slept through our reservations one night and ate at the buffet, we spend most nights eating there because it was wonderful and we didn't have to go at noon to make dinner reservations. The staff was wonderful! Everyone was helpful and friendly! We felt like rock stars all week!!

We did not make it to any other Rui resorts, but we did take 2 excursions. We took a van with a group to Coco Bongo one night. That was amazing! I've never seen a place like that before! And then we took a day trip to Isla Mujeres. That was one of our favorite days! We took a catamaran out of Cancun, went snorkeling, had a lunch buffet, got to ride a "spinnaker", got pictures with a shark, and had shopping time in Isla Mujeres! Then we partied that night in Cancun. It was an awesome day! Another evening we spent some time on 5th Ave.

I can't tell you how much of a wonderful time that we had! We didn't want to leave! Everything was fabulous and I wouldn't have changed a thing!! We have no complaints at all. We plan on doing this again next year so keep your eye open in September for an email!! Thank you so much for everything you did! You made it so easy! The planning actually became fun and knowing I had you just a phone call away if I needed anything during our trip let us fully relax and enjoy ourselves!

Thank you again so much!! Hope you have a Happy New Year!!
